Empower Yourself!

What does it take to achieve true personal empowerment? Some people think of it as an action you take outside of yourself, in the physical world, or that it’s something you get from others.

Truly, empowerment comes from within and only YOU have the ability to understand and embody your own empowerment. Empowerment is part of your emotional character that defines the essence of who you are and what path you will walk. When you lack the ability to speak up for yourself, to make choices without fear, or to move away from toxic situations, you lose the ability to take control of your life.

Much of this feeling of “stuckness” comes from our feelings of unworthiness. We don’t appreciate our value AND our worth and lack the courage to take action to make changes in our lives. You have to learn to love yourself unconditionally, if you want to become unstuck and move out of negativity. And that takes work. Sometimes lots and lots of inner work.

You have to learn to accept the good and bad – the light AND dark, shadow side of yourself, in order to grow and eventually love yourself. It’s a process of delving deep into your dreams, your meditations, and writing down all of your thoughts and feelings. When you go back to your writing and reflect, you discover those things about yourself that have been hidden. You learn, grow, and evolve.

Sometimes it takes a challenging or traumatic event to wake us up to the fact that we are lacking in true, unconditional self-love. That’s what happened to me, and believe me, the road I had to walk was a lot more challenging than it should have been. I didn’t have as much support as I needed, and I wandered aimlessly for a long time. Having someone guide me through my journey of acceptance, and then ultimately to empowerment, would have definitely shortened the duration and depth of my confusion. I felt alone and this led me to want to help others who were struggling with issues of self-love and worthiness, who were stuck and unable to move forward in their lives.
